Sri Lanka Foundation of Rehabilitation for the Disabled - Colombo - 10 |
SLFRD was formed in September 1988. The group’s purpose was to address the problems faced by the disabled and thus the SLFRD started the “Rehab Lanka” Project in 1991 to provide training and employment to people with disabilities to help generate their own income.
The Rehab Lanka project has been running small-scale production workshops for the last thirteen years. This includes a garment workshop, a wood workshop, a metal workshop, a spray painting workshop and a machining workshop. These workshops are used to generate ‘organisational income’, enabling Rehab Lanka to provide services to people with disabilities. These services include providing employment opportunities, ‘on the job’ training opportunities, educational grants, assistance with the provision of mobility equipment and computer skills training programs.
